The HeatTrak Traction Mat is designed to act as an entrance mat can be left out for the entire winter season. Warranty Info:

2 year warranty against manufacturer's defects. This does not include normal wear and tear. Warranty is void if product has been misused, abused, damaged, modified, or repaired by an unauthorized facility.

The default location of the power cord is on the lower right corner of the mat, which is also the upper left corner if you rotate the mat. The power cord can be reversed to the other side if requested when placing your order.
