AA1005 - The Raising Cane

What is it? The Raising Cane^® is the world's first and only self-righting walking cane. It is absolutely the most convenient, lightweight walking cane in the world. Using its unique, patented, balanced design, the cane will always return to its normal, upright standing position if it is dropped or knocked over. No other cane can accomplish this task.

The Raising Cane^® is comprised of five major components. These are:

Tee type handle grip
Strong and stiff graphite-epoxy shaft
Rugged steel basket assembly
Counterweight, and a
Rubber base pad

The Raising Cane^® is available in four (4) fixed lengths of 30, 32, 34, and 36 inches. The cane is available in fixed lengths and thus you must determine the proper length for yourself.

It weighs about 1.4 pounds and it is patented throughout much of the world.

Handle
The handles are of a Tee design and are grasped as shown in the gripping instructions. The cane shaft fits between the fore and middle fingers of ones hand. Grasping the handle in this manner improves the stability of the cane for the user while centering the handle in the palm of the user.

There are two handle designs to choose from.

The first utilizes a black foam grip that is ergonomically designed, is made from a bio-compatible polymeric foam and is user replaceable. It is designed to absorb shock and provide comfort to the user. It is about 3 inches long and 1 3/8 inches in diameter.

Our newest handle design features a larger handle that utilizes a carbon fiber tube about 4 inches in length and 1 1/8 inches in diameter. This design is preferred by individuals with larger hands.

Shaft
The shaft of the cane is a beautiful, rosewood-colored, graphite-epoxy material designed to be extremely light weight but, at the same time, to be strong and stiff. The material used in this shaft is similar to that used in high performance sporting equipment and aircraft.

Steel Basket Assembly
The black, coated steel basket assembly is both rugged and lightweight. - It is uniquely designed to clear the foot of the user, as well as provide a rolling surface for the cane if it is dropped or knocked over.

Counterweight
This black weight is coated to provide years of maintenance free use. Its primary purpose is to provide the necessary weight needed to cause the cane to roll back up if it is dropped or knocked over.

Rubber Base
This piece acts to protect both the floor and the metal counterweight from one another while cushioning the impact on the floor. It is made from a black, non-marring rubber material, is approximately five times the contact area as ordinary canes, and is replaceable.
